Transformers 2 2009

Posted by admin On September - 25 - 2007

Well just having watched the first Transformers movie I was surprised to learn that a second was in development as we speak. Reports at Slash Film suggest that Spielberg and Bay will once again be involved in the project.

To be honest I don’t think anyone thought that transformers would gross as much as it did and still is to this day. For the studios its a sure money maker but there are also rumors floating around that Michael Bay might be lined up to direct Disney’s big budget film - The Prince of Persia - If he took on this role we would have to wait until as late as 2010.

I personally would like to see some more Transformers villains make an appearance in the next film, im sure whatever they create it will certainly be worth a ticket price - watch this space!

AVP 2 Requiem - Trailer 2

Posted by admin On September - 24 - 2007

A second trailer has been released for AVP 2 Requiem. More dialog which is good however some of the scenes look a bit too “faculty”. What I mean by this is that there seems to be a nice town, with some high school sweethearts (which im pretty sure you see one of hem die in the first trailer) thats not what Alien or Predator films should be about, it’s not what made them work!

Think back to any of the Alien or Predator films - none of them have a “happy” backdrop before the the shi*t hits the fan, im just concerned they have modernized the film too much or have played it safe perhaps?

The action sequences still do look good and there is 100% a Predalien in the film which must mean they are following the last story of sorts (perhaps pressured).

There is also a nice clip in the trailer that does resemble a scene from Aliens, look out for it and see if you can guess what I mean. I just really hope they are trying to do their own thing for this film and not just taking “what works” from the other films and mashing them altogether..

Indiana Jones 4 – The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Posted by admin On September - 11 - 2007

Yes, the title of the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones saga has been named as “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”.

I for one was worried about this when I first heard of this production being announced at the beginning of the year. Harrison ford is well, grey and old as are the other memorable characters in the trilogy. The last Crusade’s final shot where they ride in to the sunset left me feeling happy that that’s how it ended.

What’s it about?

Well obviously its about a crystal skull that is probably worth more than Microsoft’s sales from the last 20 years and someone is trying to steal it! In all honesty not a lot is known about the plot of the film although if you visit http://www.indianajones.com you can see some behind the scenes extras. We see a nice addition to the cast as well with Shia LaBeouf making an appearance, I think he will work well with the humor of Doctor Jones.

Will this do well?

Yes. You have to be pretty short of brain cells if you think that Indiana Jones doesn’t have a huge fan base internationally. Also with Spielberg and Lucas playing their parts in the production you know the potential quality is beyond belief.

Terminator 4 announced

Posted by admin On September - 10 - 2007

It has been announced that in 2009 the fourth installment of the Terminator series will be released. Not much is known about the story or actors yet but Edward Furlong is said to be rumored to be playing John Connor.

Terminator 4

A big debate is currently happening underground as to whether or not Arnold Schwarzenegger should be involved in the film or not? Some people have said he will play a cameo in the film but for me this is not enough. The Terminator is Arnold, without him you don’t have a true Terminator film, unfortunatly he is just too old to “look” like he did over 20 years ago.

Whatever the outcome it’s sure to get a lot of press so remember to keep your eyes open.

AVP: Requiem 2008

Posted by admin On September - 6 - 2007

One of my all time favorite films has to be the all conquering 1987’s Predator. The first time I watched this film I was probably only around 13 or 14 and the film gave me nightmares for weeks. It wasn’t the whole film or any part in the filmed that scared me, it was of course the Predator itself.

Imagine if an alien like that existed? Looking back on that period of my life I realise that I was perhaps a bit naive to think that a Predator would want to kill an unarmed 13 year old boy but at the time that’s what I thought!

Anyway, back on topic, to my absolute joy I heard that towards the end of this year there will be another addition to the Alien Vs Predator franchise – AVP Requiem. Now before anyone starts saying to me AVP was rubbish and P.W.S Anderson is a ruddy idiot for what he did to that film, hold your horses! The film is not good by any of the previous predator offerings and I did leave the cinema feeling slightly cheated out of my money, but! I enjoy any film with a predator in and there were certain points in the film (one part in particular when you see a predator hurling an alien through a wall) which I did enjoy. So overall not a great film but I’ve seen it a healthy amount of times and it’s a grower.

So when I heard that the Strause brothers were making a AVP 2 I was immediately drawn to it with eager anticipation.

So what’s the plot?

As far as I can tell there is a small village in America that has an outbreak of Aliens (not sure how). An experienced predator gets sent to earth to clean up the mess, but things never seem to go to plan. Lot’s of people get killed, the army try and “contain” rather than kill (flashback Predator 2).

Expectations?

You can view the official AVP Requiem trailer and watch for yourselves but my first impressions are all good! For a start you see some jungle action, bodies skinned, flashing predator eyes while cloaked, general predator ownage plus lots of gore. The cast of the film is not well know but that really doesn’t matter too much, to be honest I think the beauty of the first one and why it worked so well was because the whole film was a bit tongue in cheek. I mean you had to have a bicep size of at least 20 inches just to get in to the audition room.

I’ve heard a lot of people worrying that it’s just going to turn into a gore fest but to be honest who cares, if I’m entertained then that’s all that matters, of course a couple of cheesy one liners would also add to the experience and judging by the trailers there’s going to be a few of them.

Will it do well?

What most people don’t realise about the first AVP is that it actually did quite well in the box office, mainly because both franchises hold a good fan base but never the less it made some good cash – hence a good reason to make another one – but this time listening to the fans. The film will be rated R or 18 in the Uk which means that they are gunning for the original fans, the people who have grown up with Aliens and Predators being common knowledge throughout their lives. I must say the trailer looks amazing, better than the whole of the first AVP all together so for me they have done a good job so far. I think the film will do well but at New Year time for a release the studios are obviously not confident it can compete with the summer blockbusters, but this again could be a good thing.

I have recently setup my very own movie blog about current, past and future films. I don’t consider myself to be an expert when it comes to film but I have studied the subject at university and have watched hundreds of films of all genres, so when it comes to opinions on movies and acting I like to stand up and be noticed.

I’ve also created a few films of my own while at University which I hope to have up pretty soon but initially you will have to make do with my movie news and reviews.

So what makes this blog so different?

Well for a start im not going to write about the same topics you might find else where, I couldn’t care less if you can tell the shark in Jaws had electrics in its mouth at 56:03 it was a good film that scared the hell out of me! Im a mid 20 year old man who has a passion for films that entertain me, that’s all that matters and thats the sort of reviews and news you will see being posted on here.

So please subscibe if you want some enjoyable reading material when you have a spare 5 minutes at work or at home.

 Thanks
