1. Star Wars – Lightsabre
I don’t think there’s many people in the world that wouldn’t want one of these in real life. Probably one of the most memorable weapons of any film genre is the Lightsabre. The laser the sabre emits can cut through just about any material, can deflect laser shots and looks pretty damn bad ass. One of the aspects that really make the Lightsabre memorable is the customization between the different models, subtle handle adjustments and different coloured beams.
2. Terminator 2 – The Gatling gun
The Gatling gun is the “daddy” of all bullet propelled weapons, firing a quadrillion bullets in 10 seconds – fact. The handheld version makes an appearance in a couple of great action films but is most memorable in the Terminator 2 shootout scene. Although the Terminator does not kill a single person with it he restructures an entire city block in under 2 minutes, truly awesome.
3. Predator – Shoulder Cannon
For those of you that read Real Movie Views regularly you will know I love the predator franchise. Predator has a number of cool weapons but the shoulder cannon is what makes the predator so bad ass and near unstoppable. With the ability to take out multiple targets very quickly and the automated lock on feature, this weapon gets the number 3 spot.
4. Robocop – Hand Gun
An oldie but a goodie! The classic Robocop semi/automatic handgun was a childhood fantasy for me. Of course it was made cooler by the fact the gun had Robocop at the other end but great sound and ultra slick on screen.
5. Minority Report – Power Gun
Ok, perhaps this weapon doesn’t belong here but in the film Minority Report there is one particular scene in which Tom Cruise is reloading the gun that seems to push people away. The reload mechanism requires a person to almost swing it 360 degrees in the hand (thing Terminator 2 shotgun too). For this simple feature the weapon makes the list!
